Mira Here!

We haven't written on here for a bit, even though lots of ideas have bubbled up. So I'm going to journal here for a bit, as we've got a good bit on our mind.

The month really shot by, but things are going well here. Stable and relaxed. It's been around a year since we got affiliate on Twitch, and streaming remains a really fun hobby! The saturday slot on Lolo's stream has been upgraded this month, and so we did an archipelago run. If you're not in the know, archipelago takes a bunch of different game randomizer seeds and mixes all the unlocks between them then uses a server to send them between games in realtime. Therefore, you can get a bunch of people together playing different games and affecting each other at the same time. It is a bit of a pain in the ass to set up each game, but it works well once you get going. For our first time, we were each playing two games, and one of ours was the Link of the Past randomizer we've already done before. The other was Sonic Adventure 2, which didn't initially seem like a good idea for a randomizer but turns out it actually works pretty well! However, it has resulted in us repeatedly breaking our previous "longest stream" record until we did a 5 hour one the day before writing this. They get easier after you do them a few times, so I guess we could get used to super long streams gradually. We don't plan on doing this, but going to about a 3 hour standard is nice.

We also played Koudelka for PS1. Incredible game that really advanced our ideas about stage production and game presentation/narrative. A real classic and it'll probably inspire us to play Shadow Hearts. We also have a certain desire to play the original Resident Evil, as Koudelka is really adjacent to survival horror games as a horror RPG. We'll see if it happens. Next up though, we want to emulate some MSX games, so that'll be fun.

As we've gone on streaming while openly plural, lately we've been able to meet other systems and get noticed for it. And that feels nice! We were only able to figure ourselves out with the help of others, and so while we always want to do things for ourselves when it comes to self-expression, we feel like we want to help others who need it with the same thing. It's just the way the world should work, you know? So that's been nice to see. Maybe we need to try building even more of a plural community.

Anyway, we continue with the usual hobbies, though some good games have come out to take our attention too (just streamed our first impressions of Mina the Hollower today). Eventually we'll get some more fiction up, and making a fun little game is progressing nicely even if it's not quickly. We're figuring out a scope and shape of the thing now. It's feeling like summer will be a fun time this year.
